Abstract: Personal observations on the increase and decrease of mammals, birds and insects in Co. Louth, chiefly round the area of Clogher Head are presented. The author notes that both Common and Grey Seals, which are common in the area, have extended their previously local distribution to a patch of rocks about a mile north of Clogher Head. He also wonders where the seals breed as the 'nature of the coast and the swarms of fishing boats in the area' do not appear conducive to this activity.
