Abstract: Biological notes gained from observations and from specimens caught at the Belmullet whaling station are presented. Reference is made to breeding, observing that twins are rare, and noting the size of the young. The size and colour of whales, specifically the Blue Whale Balaenoptera sibbaldi, and the Common Finner B. musculus, were noted. The preferred food of these species and any internal parasites were also noted. The commercial value of whale products and their common export destination are discussed.
