Abstract: This paper reviews the completed systematic survey of Clare Island which is comprised of six reports, including one by Cotton on marine algae. This intensive survey of Clare Island and the adjacent mainland yielded 92 species of marine algae new to Ireland, 18 new to the British Isles and three new to science. Another of the reports by Praeger considers Phanerogama and Pterodophyta, and includes maritime flora.
