Abstract: Paper reviews a report by Dr S. F. Harmer on the whales and dolphins stranded on the British and Irish coasts during 1918. The species stranded on the Irish coast are listed. Particular note was made of the True's Beaked Whale Mesoplodon mirus (this should be Ziphius cavirostris Ir. Nat. 29(3) p. 27), a species hitherto unknown in Irish waters, though two species previously captured may have been wrongly identified and prove indeed to be M. mirus.
