Abstract: The notes of an observer of Basking Sharks in Ardmore Bay, Co. Cork are presented. The calm and warm weather conditions were noted, and there were up to four groups of sharks, each with four to six individuals in the bay. The presence of the sharks limited fishing in such fine weather, and those who did venture out were prone to having their nets taken by the basking visitors.
