Abstract: This is a record of a 'recently dead turtle' received by the Dublin Museum. The turtle was found dead on the shores of Valentia Island, Co. Kerry, and was thought to have been washed in by the storms. The turtle, identified as Thalassochelys caretta, was measured, weighed, and is described anatomically. As the turtle was accompanied by Vellela, Lanthina, and Spirula, which are tropical species, it was thought that it was carried to Irish shores by the Gulf stream.
