Abstract: This short note comments on the 'Beaked Whales' and in particular the genus Mesoplodon which are hard to identify. The authors' note that 'the only Beaked Whale which is at all common in Irish waters is the Bottle-nosed Whale (Hyperoodon rostratus)'.
