Abstract: Paper describes the flora (predominantly the marine algae) of the shores of Northern Ireland as part of a coastal survey. The coast of Co. Down is covered from the western side of Ballyholme Bay to just beyond the municipal golf links at Carnalea (nearly 4 miles). The coast surveyed is rocky for the most part, with exposed, moderate and sheltered conditions. Area includes three bays with boulder beach, some sandy mud and a sandy beach and stone-sea wall.
