Abstract: Paper gives six recent records (1990-1994) of the wolf-fish Anarhichas lupus L. off the south and west coast of Ireland. The paper also reviews five previous records of this species in Irish waters dating back to 1807 and discusses the distribution, habitat and breeding habits of this species in northern Europe. Based on the present paucity of records, the current status of A. lupus in Irish waters would appear to be rather scarce and localized.
