Abstract: Following the lifting of the ban on importation of molluscs without licence, two exotic species of parasitic copepod, Mytilicola orientalis Mori and Myicola ostreae, previously unknown in Irish waters were discovered on oysters in Carlingford Lough, Cork Harbour, Dungarvan and Oysterhaven in 1993. The related species Mytilicola intestinalis is also discussed.
