Abstract: Distributions of littorinid gastropods (8 species) were examined in L. Hyne and in some neighbouring areas of sea coast in relation to possible physical and biological influences. Twenty sampling sites were visited in Sept. 1980, Aug. 1981 and Sept. 1988. Sites were chosen to represent areas exposed to a wide range of tidal currents and winds. Results discuss distribution and abundance of the various Littorina spp. with respect to variables such as level of wave exposure, size, algal zonation etc..
