Abstract: Behavioural observations on starfish using SCUBA diving were made in Lough Hyne, Co. Cork. 1062 diver minutes were spent over gravel looking for starfish and recording behaviour and 228 diver minutes were spent over mud. Specific size categories were used and six independent starfish activities were defined. Diet was also recorded. Feeding behaviour is discussed in relation to size of starfish and substratum.
