Abstract: Paper investigates the distribution and identification of littorinid species in Northern Ireland from Portstewart in the north to Ardglass in the south. Large collections of both rough and flat periwinkles were made from 19 sites. The distribution of the red/brown colour morph of Littorina nigrolineata was also investigated at 35 sites around the Ards peninsula, Co. Down, both inside and outside Strangford Lough.
