Abstract: Forty-five specimens of the isopod Idotea metallica were recorded during a neuston survey in Galway Bay extending from July 1982 to Sept. 1984 and including August 1985. Results indicate that I. metallica's presence in Irish waters is less sporadic than previously thought. The origin of the Galway population is discussed.
