Abstract: Surface plankton samples were collected from various sites up to 2 miles from shore on western side of Courtmacsherry Bay. The net (based on design by David (1965)) was towed at 3-4 knots. Samples were preserved in 10% formalin in seawater. Insects later sorted and transferred to 70% alcohol. Identified to family level. Paper discusses the importance of insect flotsam as a food source for fish, particularly the Belonidae, epipelagic family.
