Abstract: This paper discusses lobster larvae in Irish coastal waters. A total of 195 lobster larvae in all four stages of development were caught in twelve of the fourteen tows (using a neuston net) in Kilkieran Bay and around the Aran Islands, Co. Galway. While no attempt was made to map their spatial distribution etc., the results indicate that the lack of lobster larvae in the historical data is no more than a reflection of the failure to mount directed surveys for lobster larvae in the past.
