Abstract: This paper reports concentrations of zinc, lead, copper, cadmium and manganese in the brown alga, Fucus vesiculosus, in the common mussel Mytilus edulis and the periwinkle Littorina littorea in Carlingford Lough. The object of the work here was to provide baseline figures which may be used to assess future pollution changes. The highest metal concentration in the Lough was manganese.
