Abstract: During a faunal and floral inventory of marine littoral communities on Sherkin Island and neighbouring islands in Roaringwater Bay and Lough Hyne, some records of sponges and octocorals which are rare or new to the Irish fauna were made. Individual species are described in detail with respect to habitat and physical appearance.
