Abstract: This paper presents data concerning the biology of the tompot blenny, Blennius gattorugine. Over a stretch of a few years (prior to 1979) approximately 60 tompots were recorded in inner Galway Bay and on the Connemara coast (lower shore at Carna). Some were kept in aquaria for breeding purposes and the remaining 49 fish were examined. Specific data on area, depth and substratum are given for those examined. The fish were aged by their sagittal otoliths and total length plotted against age group. The food of the specimens was examined and is listed by occurrence in number of guts. Morphometrics were carried out with means and ranges presented.
