Abstract: Paper reports on the occurrence of the scyphozoan Rhizostoma octopus in Irish waters. Examination of previous records from Ireland show that occurrence is intermittent with a tendency for east coast records in the winter and spring months and south and west coasts records in the summer and autumn months. Sightings from 1976 are also given.
