Abstract: The amphipod Stenula latipes has been recently taken from shells occupied by Pagurus bernhardus collected by divers at depths of 10-12 m on the sandy substrate of Rosceeda Bay, a small bay in the Kilkieran Bay complex on the west coast of Ireland. These amphipods have been associated with the pagurid P. bernhardus in European waters. Paper points out the similarity between S. latipes and Metopa rubrovittata which has also been taken associated with hermit crabs and notes the possibility that these two species have been confused in the past.
