Abstract: A short report on the red alga Platoma marginifera in Ireland. It was first found in Ireland August 1972 in the drift at Clougher Strand near Dun Chaoin, Co. Kerry. The most recent (as of 1978) specimen was found in the drift at Fanore, Co. Clare in August 1976. Despite the difference in their branching patterns they are thought to be the one species. Descriptions of the specimens are given with some comments on taxonomic features.
