Abstract: Prior to 1976 the cumacean species, Cumopsis fagei, which occurs on the French and Moroccan coasts as well as the Channel Islands had not been recorded in Irish waters. It is an intertidal or shallow water species occurring on marine sandy beaches. However, between June 1976 and March 1977 this species was recorded during two independent surveys on the coast to Ireland in counties Wexford and Cork.
