Abstract: A short note on the ectoparasitic copepod Caligus elongatus. In July 1973 it was discovered on a bluefish Pomatomus saltatrix captured off Ballycotton, Co. Cork. This was the first reported occurrence of the bluefish in the north eastern Atlantic, north of Spain and the first record of the bluefish as a host species to this copepod.
