Abstract: A list of marine algae found on the shores of Sandeel Bay, Co. Down during 1972 and 1973 is presented. Some species not previously found from Co. Down are included. The area surveyed is on the northern coast of Co. Down, Northern Ireland. 'The rocks flanking the bay consists of graywackes and subordinate shale bands. They slope more steeply on the eastern side than on the western side and the latter is more heavily covered with fucoids and laminarians. Pools are present on both sides and rocky outcrops form islands in the bay when exposed at low tides'.
