Abstract: A short note on a probable spawning population of smelt, Osmerus eperlanus, in the Foyle estuary, Northern Ireland. Previous to the findings of smelt on the screens at the Coolkaragh Power station, this species had only previously been reported in Ireland from the Shannon.
