Abstract: A short (but detailed) report on a specimen of the sea urchin Cidaris cidaris collected on the lower shore at Cross Beach, the Mullet, Co. Mayo, about 100 m south of Cross Point. This species is rare in water less than 50 m deep and unknown from the littoral. A detailed description of the specimen is given as well as conjecture as to how it arrived at the above locality.
