Abstract: A report on a preliminary trial on relaying oysters, Ostrea edulis, in Carlingford Lough during 1970. Results (which include number of live oysters remaining, modal size, average weight, average volume and condition index) are compared to a control on the west coast. Preliminary trial indicated that conditions in Carlingford Lough were suitable for rapid oyster growth. In addition, clean shells and freedom from external fouling was an added quality.
