Abstract: A short report on the capture of a large number of specimens of the snake blenny, Lumpenus lumpretaeformis, in the area on the Kish and Bennet Banks, Dublin Bay during an exploratory fishing project for sandeels in the summer of 1970. This is the first record of this species in Irish waters since 1960 and is thus of interest. The fish were caught with a Danish sandeel net at depths ranging from 7-10 fathoms. Standard lengths are given for 33 specimens from the Bennet Bank, as well as 20 caught off the Isle of Man in 1960.
