Abstract: A brief report on the discovery of two bound volumes of specimens of seaweeds compiled by Anne E. Ball (1808-1872). The collection comprises 97 marine and 2 freshwater algae, all from Irish localities, and chiefly in the vicinity of Youghal, Co. Cork. Approximately half of the specimens belong to the Rhodophyceae and the remainder to Phaeophyceae and Chlorophyceae. The volumes are kept at the Herbarium of the National Museum of Ireland.
