Abstract: A short note on a large number of strandings of the Portuguese man-of-war Physalia physalia at Cape Clear Island in the autumn of 1968. In addition, thousands ('if not tens of thousands') of the by-the-wind-sailor, Velella spirans, were also found on one 30 yard strand.
