Abstract: A short report on the finding of a large log of silver fir from the water near the entrance to Belfast Lough which had been covered by a dense growth of goose barnacles and extensively mined by young individuals of the shipworm Psiloteredo megotara. The feature which interested the author was the distribution of P. megotara's entrance holes. They were frequently grouped around the attachment point of the barnacle stalk.
