Abstract: A short but informative paper on sandeels in the Irish Sea. The key used to identify the adult sandeels is presented. A total of 2800 fish were examined and keyed out in this way, with otoliths being removed from 1454 for age analysis. Mean lengths per species (4) are presented for each age group. A brief discussion is given to the 4 species found with respect to general abundance, area found, range of lengths and vertebral count.
