Abstract: A brief report on the finding of a well grown fertile specimen of an alga from the genus Grateloupia. It was growing in a mid littoral pool, into which a freshwater streamlet was flowing, on a moderately exposed shore near the village of Brandon, Co. Kerry. The author proposes that it may be G. dichotoma, which has no previous Irish record but it may also be a form of G. filicina
