Abstract: Paper reviews the status of two species of sea snails, Liparis montagui and L. liparis (in particular the latter). Based on some examinations of the same preserved specimens, L. liparis was first recorded in 1837 from Ireland, removed from list in 1856, replaced again in 1890 and removed in 1952. The author examined these specimens with X-rays and showed that they consisted of both species. Counts of vertical fin rays and vertebrae are given as is a key for the two species.
