Abstract: A short note commenting on Fisher's (INJ 1(12) 233, 1927) note on British marine pearls. Praeger comments that a pearl is defined as a 'separate and detached' mass of nacre, not a nacreous excrescence 'upon the wall', thus Fisher's pearls do not fall into the accepted definition.
