Abstract: Paper discusses the two species of 'sea snails' recorded as British, the common sea snail, Liparis liparis and Montagu's, L. montagui, in terms of its status as an Irish species. Previous records are examined and taxonomic descriptions given. It is concluded that L. liparis (at least in 1952) must be omitted from the list of Irish fishes on the grounds that its occurrence in Irish waters has not yet been proved.
