Abstract: The Irish Red Data Book for Vertebrates is a summary of the currently available information about those vertebrate animals in Ireland which have been listed as rare or threatened to some degree or which have become extinct in the past 300 years. It describes the process employed in selecting the species and considers the conservation issues which the Red Data Book selection raises.
