Abstract: This paper presents the results of a lichen survey of Howth, Co. Dublin. The saxicolous lichens are categorised by type of rock colonised (silicious or calcareous), and the silicious lichens recorded in five distinct zones: Ramalina belt; orange belt; Lichina vegetation; Verrucaria maura belt; marine Verrucaria belt. The species are also listed systematically. Three species new to science are described: Verrucaria lorrain-smithii, Acarospora benedarensis and Lecania atrynioides.
