Abstract: This paper discusses the hydrolysis of the disaccharide laminarin to form another disaccharide, for which the name laminaribiose is proposed. Natural sources of a laminarin-splitting enzyme were sought amongst Laminaria feeders, and may have been found in a glycerine extract of Patella.
