Abstract: This report is based on a series of tow-nettings taken off Valencia Island, Co. Kerry, in 1895-98. A list of the medusae obtained is given, with abundance, description and distribution. One species new to science, Obelia nigra, is described, and Dipleurosoma typicum is described in great detail. Temporal variations in occurrence and abundance are tabulated. The Valencia medusae are compared to the communities found at Plymouth and Port Erin in the UK.
