Abstract: This is the first paper in a series of twelve dealing with the flora and fauna of the Valencia Harbour area, Co. Kerry, and deals with the faunal taxa not covered in subsequent papers. The harbour area is described, with records of sea and air temperature, sunshine and rainfall. A list of species identified from tow-nettings in 1895-98 is given, with size, abundance and distribution. Monthly distributions are tabulated.
