Abstract: Paper discusses the environmental effects of offshore discharges from the oil and gas industry. These include discharges of oil and water, emissions of gases to the atmosphere, disposal of solid wastes, physical interference with other marine activities, disturbance of the sea bed and the consequences of abandoning structures when oil or gas fields have become depleted.
