Abstract: This proceedings of the first conference on the ecology of the only marine nature reserve in Ireland, Lough Hyne, Co. Cork, is full of a wide variety of topics. They are divided into the following sections: history, the plankton, the intertidal, the sublittoral, phylogeny and biogeography, and management, with the sublittoral being the most studied and the plankton the least. The proceedings concludes with a bibliography of Lough Hyne to 1990.
