Abstract: The diet of 13 species of demersal fish, based on trawl samples in the Irish Sea, was investigated by stomach content analysis. Two major feeding groups were distinguished, the first exploiting infaunal/epifaunal food types, the second preying on more mobile organisms. As fish length increased, most species showed a more specialised diet. Species with close dietary similarities had similar mouth length/standard length dimensions.
