Abstract: This paper presents systematically the results of a survey of western Irish fishing grounds in 1890-91, dealing with the rarer fish taken. Detailed descriptions of all specimens are given, including geographic and vertical distribution. One new eel genus and species, Nettophichthys retropinnatus, is described. The taxonomy of Arnoglossus laterna, Callionymus maculata, Centrophorus squamosus and Raja blanda are dealt with at length.
