Abstract: The data base for the English series of groundfish surveys in the Celtic Sea covers both commercial and non-commercial species, and provides a means of monitoring the abundance and distribution of fish species, which can be related to changes in patterns of fishing and environmental factors. Data contributes to fish stock and recruitment assessments. Information is also being built up on predator-prey relationships. The equipment is a modified Portugese high-headline trawl; bottom temperature is also recorded. The present report covers 12 surveys in the period December 1984-March 1991. Subsequently, the the survey has been maintained with annual surveys in March.
