Abstract: Paper gives observations on the occurrence of Bifurcaria bifurcata on the west coast of Ireland, particularly north of the Shannon Estuary. Some early records for this species are discussed and the habitat in Ireland and elsewhere is described. Problems of reproduction, perennation and the maintenance of existing populations are considered.
