Abstract: The variation of levels of phosphate and silicate in seawater with wind, temperature and light are studied with the objective of examining seasonal cycles of production in phytoplankton. Water samples were taken from the Plymouth area, the Celtic Sea and the tropical Atlantic Ocean from 1923 to 1927.
