Abstract: This paper presents the first record of five species of sand-eel off the west coast of Ireland and the first Irish record of Gymnammodytes semisquamatus. Larvae were identified from plankton samples and adults were obtained from shore collections and from gut examination of commercial fish. Larval seasonal abundance is studied.
